Digital Literacy

Luann Langel
Communication:  I have used Voki.com as a talking avatar.  Students used it to explain a process or record their voice.  Looking at it today I see they have expanded it's use to become more of a presentation tool for teachers and the Voki Teach is new.  This provides lessons already connected to the common core that you could use in your classroom.

Collaboration:  Today's meet is a nice tool to have students discuss various topics online instead of face to face.  This tool is nice for student's who are timid in class.  It is also a nice way to provide some background notes during class or a place for student's to ask questions while you are presenting a new topic.

Creativity:  I would like to try moovly.com to create an animated movie.  I was thinking of providing a topic to students and then they would create a moovly to teach others in the class about that topic.

Critical Thinking:  Socrative would be a nice tool to use to assess student's understanding.  An online tool makes it more engaging for students and the instant feedback makes it a nice tool for the teacher to know if the students are understanding the material or not.

Organization:  Symbaloo is a great way to organize website for younger kiddos.  I have used this when I taught elementary technology and I could place a photo or color code the blocks to help kids find the links.
