I always have a fun time with students teaching about digital literacy to use their in depth skills to research for projects. Come to find out many students can run circles around me using technology but when it comes to literacy and research strategies they really struggle to find factual and credible sources. One of the things i have them look up in the Northwest Tree Octopus and they will find multiple resources claiming that the NWT Octopus is real and videos to support their claim. I then tell them to look at the website, use your tools to see who owns the website. Then tell me if the NWT Octopus is real. I then proceed to tell them that all your research that you do on the internet should be done with such caution and research should always be done throughly.
