Digital Literacy

Sarah Hill
I have used Class Dojo the past few years as both a communication and collaboration tool in my building.  First, it has been an easy way to connect with parents.  Aside from utilizing the points to share behaviors throughout the day, it also provides a platform to send messages easily to parents and families.  I can send a quick note to a parent to explain an act of kindness or respect, or I can send a message to all families to remind them to return permission slips or check notebooks.  I am also able to use it to collaborate with other staff in noticing positive behaviors and providing specific feedback to students immediately.  I am also able to share pictures of experiments, anchor charts, projects, etc with families, and other teachers easily.  I would strongly encourage educators to check Class Dojo out if you have not already.  Another platform I am currently navigating is SeeSaw.  I like the ability to create individual student portfolios, and again, it provides simple communication tools, as well as collaboration tools on one site.
