Digital Resources

bobster
I have found youtube to be an excellent place to find videos to share with my students as well as for my own information.  I am a private music teacher and have found a number of excellent youtube channels that have videos by professional players and teachers that cover all the areas of learning to play an instrument. Since I find myself at times teaching students who play an instrument that I may have limited experience on (such as Oboe) these videos have helped me as well.  I am currently on a practice routine with all of the woodwind instruments (I am a brass major) and have found these sites and channel to be very helpful.  A couple of Youtube channels worth mentioning: Clarinet Mentors-excellent videos an all facets of clarinet playing (playclarinetnow.com); Oboebasics.com- the same; and a really excellent series of videos by the members of each section of the Army Field Band (the elite band in the US Army).

I also use you tube quite often to show examples to students and teachers.  As a school counselor, I am able to find short messages or video's that address a wide variety of topics.  Also for staff meetings, it is very common to start a meeting with a motivational video or short clip on you tube.  Thanks for the ideas on the band topic, I can share those with our band teachers!
