As a PTO coordinator I use Sign Up Genius often to help organize the volunteers for a particular school event. Parents (and school staff) are able to sign up for particular time slots or to bring in certain items. It seems to meet the needs of recruiting volunteers. The format to create a sign up is also user friendly. The only time consuming piece is entering in all of the email addresses for the recipients.
I use Sign-Up Genius with parents for conferences. I love that it sends reminder emails to the parents, so I don't have to do it. I have also used it myself when different organizations need people to sign up for things. It is easy to see the time slots and what is left to choose from.
