I use Twitter in class as a way to remind students that they have a test coming up, that we will be doing a lab, or if I find any interesting science-related articles.

I've used Twitter in the past for notification, but I like the idea of using it to send out science-related articles to students. That seems like a good way of making real-world connections to the topics you teach in a relatively straight-forward way. I could also see using Twitter to send photos/videos of examples of applications of your content that you run across in daily life.

I never thought of using Twitter to notify students of daily activities and share music related content and even concert info. This is a great idea!
