Share Resources

I prefer using Youtube because I work with a wide range of students with different age levels and abilities. I have had very positive experiences with students using Youtube videos to expand on subjects we were studying and take their learning to a new level. This happened recently in an art workshop with a student  who liked our lessons and went to Youtube, coming back the following week to share what she had learned from another artist with the class and actually teaching a lesson herself. Very exciting and gave all of the other students a real interest and skill level boost at the same time.

I like to use YouTube as a resource as well.  There is so much available and because it is live it is easier for some students to follow.  The same rules of validity apply but I think students are quicker to determine when something is not an ok resource.  I teach a lot of technology and it's hard to keep up and have the knowledge in every edge of every program.  YouTube allows my students to work beyond the knowledge I have and really dig in to information and expand their knowledge and experience.

I agree YouTube allows the students to work at their own pace.  They can pause or rewind a video it if they are having problems. I also think that student are very adept at applying validity to different resources very quickly.  I think there are so much information out there and YouTube is one way to keep up with that.
